Teacher CV template and example

Principals and hiring committees want to know which grades and subjects you teach, how your students did and how you work with colleagues and families. Certification and endorsements are checked first, then evidence of growth such as test results, reading levels, attendance or projects that changed a classroom. Warmth helps, but concrete outcomes are what get you an interview.

How to write a teacher CV

  1. Open with your certification, subject areas and grade levels so a principal can match you to an opening in seconds.
  2. Show student growth with numbers, such as the share of students meeting a benchmark or the rise in pass rates over a year.
  3. Name the curriculum, assessments and approaches you use, like project-based learning, differentiated instruction or restorative practices.
  4. Include leadership outside your classroom, such as leading a grade team, coaching, running a club or mentoring student teachers.
